Pantry DIY Project – Shopping for accessories!

If you missed the previous Steps 1-4 on my pantry DIY or Step 5 where I made faux butcher block countertops, you can check those out here and here. While renovating our living room/kitchen/pantry/front room/etc., I also spent a lot of time pinned under a nursing baby. This gave me hours and hours to shop online for the best deals and coolest stuff I could find to add finishing touches to my projects. Again, I scoured Pinterest for ideas on organization and design, finding a balance between super-functional and aesthetically what I was going for.

Pantry DIY Project – Step 5

If you missed the last post on steps 1-4, you can read about that here. As a reminder, here is the “before” we started with. Blah. Certainly not a pantry. Lol.

The pantry room by this point was much easier to visualize with the cabinets in place. Now I just had to create a countertop. I knew I wanted something rustic and wood, like butcher block, as a nice contrast to all the modern colors and styles I was using elsewhere. But I didn’t want to pay for butcher block. I am, above most all things, good at using cheap stuff to make something cool. So after scouring Pinterest, I found a post on how to create the look I was going for, plus I added some of my own ideas.

Pantry DIY Project – Steps 1-4

Let me start by saying I am in no way an expert carpenter or interior designer. I’m just really good at monkey-see-monkey-do and Pinterest. So, if I can figure out how to renovate an old dining room into a glorious pantry, so can you. I firmly stand by this decision to dedicate an entire room to a pantry space, and really, how many of us still use a formal dining room with any regularity? As a pantry, this room is now obviously one of the most used rooms in our house on a daily basis. It’s also weirdly fancy with a chandelier that I assumed at first I’d have to replace but now looks quite cool over our pantry island.
