Pantry DIY Project – Step 5

If you missed the last post on steps 1-4, you can read about that here. As a reminder, here is the “before” we started with. Blah. Certainly not a pantry. Lol.

To continue on, it’s time for the DIY faux butcher block countertops! (As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. But it doesn’t cost you anything extra and helps me keep up my site!)

The pantry room by this point was much easier to visualize with the cabinets in place. Now I just had to create a countertop. I knew I wanted something rustic and wood, like butcher block, as a nice contrast to all the modern colors and styles I was using elsewhere. But I didn’t want to pay for butcher block. I am, above most all things, good at using cheap stuff to make something cool. So after scouring Pinterest, I found a post on how to create the look I was going for, plus I added some of my own ideas.

Pantry DIY Project – Steps 1-4

Let me start by saying I am in no way an expert carpenter or interior designer. I’m just really good at monkey-see-monkey-do and Pinterest. So, if I can figure out how to renovate an old dining room into a glorious pantry, so can you. I firmly stand by this decision to dedicate an entire room to a pantry space, and really, how many of us still use a formal dining room with any regularity? As a pantry, this room is now obviously one of the most used rooms in our house on a daily basis. It’s also weirdly fancy with a chandelier that I assumed at first I’d have to replace but now looks quite cool over our pantry island.

Updates All Around


Greetings!

Needless to say, the past few years have been life-changing for many of us. Personally, I kicked off the pandemic by having a baby in a COVID hotspot. Then we moved in with my parents to be closer to family. Then the hubs changed jobs. Then we bought a car. Then we bought a house and permanently moved across the state. Recently I lost a large percentage of my job.

How do I deal with stress and anxiety? I get super creative.
